David SteinerAdvisory Director

David Steiner became an Advisory Director to Berkshire Partners in 2021 and works closely with the Berkshire Private Equity business services and industrials teams. He is currently involved with portfolio company 3Phase Elevator. David was most recently CEO of Waste Management, the largest solid waste, and recycling company in North America, where he also held the positions of President, CFO, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Earlier in his career, he was a Partner at the law firm Phelps Dunbar LLP. He is currently the Lead Independent Director of FedEx, where he also chairs the Board’s nominating and governance committee, and a Director of Vulcan Materials Company. He was previously a Director of TE Connectivity Ltd. and Waste Management, Inc. and currently serves on several non-profit and educational boards, including the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University. David received a B.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law.
