January 2013Berkshire Partners Announces New Managing Directors

Boston, Massachusetts, January 3, 2013 — Berkshire Partners LLC, the Boston-based investment firm, announced today that Kenneth S. Bring, Matthew A. Janchar and Greg J. Pappas were appointed Managing Directors effective January 1, 2013.  They join the 14 current Managing Directors of Berkshire in managing the firm and its affiliated investment funds.  These individuals will continue to focus their efforts on finance, capital markets and portfolio support, respectively.

Mr. Bring, who is the firm's Chief Financial Officer, joined Berkshire in 2002.  Prior to Berkshire, Mr. Bring was a CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he managed financial audits for investment management and private equity companies.  He received a B.S. from Duke University and an M.Acc. from the University of North Carolina. 

Mr. Janchar joined Berkshire in 2007 as Director of Capital Markets with over 13 years of experience in leveraged finance.  His primary responsibility is leading Berkshire's financing activities.  Before joining Berkshire, Mr. Janchar was a managing director at Oak Hill Advisors, where he managed a variety of debt, equity and structured finance positions across multiple industry sectors.  Earlier, Mr. Janchar worked in the Leveraged Finance Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co.  He received his B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. 

Mr. Pappas joined Berkshire in 2010 as an Operating Partner responsible for overseeing portfolio support activities.  Prior to Berkshire, Mr. Pappas was a senior partner at The Parthenon Group where he managed its private equity practice, was chair of the business development committee and was a member of the firm's executive committee. E arlier, Mr. Pappas was with Deloitte's Audit and Financial Services Group where he advised on mergers and acquisitions, as well as the organization of control, cost management and reporting systems.  He received his B.S. from Lehigh University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. 

Berkshire's investment staff is comprised of investment professionals who have a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, including operations, consulting and finance.  The original team, which came together in the mid-1980s, has expanded significantly as the firm's capital base and investment scope have grown.
