Al Kelly has been an Advisory Director at Berkshire Partners since 2024. Most recently, Al served as Chief Executive Officer of Visa from 2016 to 2023 and was elected Chairman of the Board in 2019 and became Executive Chairman in 2023. Prior to Visa, he spent the majority of his career at American Express, where he held various roles, including President. Al serves as a Trustee of New York Presbyterian Hospital and Boston College. In 2016, he was named a Knight in the Order of Saint Gregory the Great, by Pope Francis. Al holds both a B.A. in Computer and Information Science and an M.B.A. from Iona University.

Advisory Directors are business executives or industry experts well known to Berkshire who participate in specific activities that arise in their areas of expertise, including deal origination, due diligence investigation, investment deliberation and portfolio company advisory services.
