January 2016Berkshire Partners Announces New Managing Directors

Boston, Massachusetts, January 4, 2016 — Berkshire Partners, a Boston-based investment firm, announced today that Samantha Adams and Thomas Kuo were appointed Managing Directors effective January 1, 2016.  They join the 22 current Managing Directors of Berkshire in managing the firm and its affiliated investment funds. Berkshire’s 24 Managing Directors have an average tenure of 16 years with the firm.

Ms. Adams joined Berkshire Partners in 2012 as Director of Talent Management.  Prior to joining Berkshire, Ms. Adams held various positions at Bank of America, Hill Holiday Advertising, Discovery Health Channel and Bain & Co.  She received an A.B. from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. 

Mr. Kuo joined Berkshire Partners in 2007 and has extensive experience with Berkshire’s business services, industrial and transportation companies.  Prior to joining Berkshire, Mr. Kuo was in the private equity industry for several years, holding positions at General Atlantic and Goldman, Sachs & Co.  He received an A.B. from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. 

Berkshire’s investment staff is comprised of professionals who have a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, including operations, consulting and finance.  The original team, which came together in the mid-1980s, has expanded significantly as the firm’s capital base and investment scope have grown.
