March 2021Berkshire Partners Announces New Advisory Director, James D. Young

BOSTON, March 4, 2021 – Berkshire Partners announced today that James D. Young will join the firm as an Advisory Director. Mr. Young, who was most recently a senior executive with Crown Castle International Corporation, will partner with the firm’s communications team to source new investment ideas and advise its portfolio companies.

“We are pleased to welcome Jim to our team,” said Beth Hoffman, a Managing Director at Berkshire Partners. “His deep knowledge of digital infrastructure, fiber, and wireless communications will be a valuable addition to our team’s capabilities as we continue to both assess investment opportunities and support existing portfolio companies.”

Mr. Young is a veteran communications executive with more than 35 years in public company environments, including 22 years as a leader in the wireless communications space. He most recently was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Crown Castle’s Fiber Division. For more than a decade prior to that, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Crown Castle overseeing tower operations. Mr. Young also held multiple engineering and operations roles at Sprint Nextel. He has been involved with the Allegheny Conference in multiple board and committee roles including economic development, cyber security, and financial oversight.
