BOSTON, May 12, 2021 – Berkshire Partners announced today that David Steiner has joined the firm as an Advisory Director. Mr. Steiner, who is the former CEO of Waste Management, will partner with the firm’s business services and industrials teams to source new investment ideas and advise portfolio companies.

Mr. Steiner was CEO of Waste Management, the largest solid waste and recycling company in North America, from 2004 to 2016, where he also held the positions of President, CFO, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Earlier in his career, he was a Partner at the law firm Phelps Dunbar LLP. He is currently the Lead Independent Director of FedEx, where he also chairs the Board’s nominating and governance committee, and a Director of Vulcan Materials Company. He was previously a Director of TE Connectivity and Waste Management. Mr. Steiner also currently serves on several non-profit and educational boards, including the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University.
